Your home contents insurance policy may cover your belongings while they are in storage with us. We encourage our customers to contact their insurance company or broker to check whether you can receive coverage through your current policy. If you do not hold a policy that covers your goods while they are in storage with us, Smartbox is happy to offer insurance at extremely competitive rates.
With your insurance policy, your goods will be covered against damage caused by fire, lightning, impact, explosion, earthquake, aircraft, riots, strikes, malicious damage, storm, water and burglary resulting from forced entry.
Note that your goods are NOT covered for losses due to the consequence of war, terrorism or other military action. Goods in transit and accidental damage are not covered. Goods not stored in a Smartbox (e.g. motor vehicles and boats) are not covered.
There is an excess of $200 for each claim.
Pricing is simple. Under our restricted cover, you only pay $1.65 per month for each $1,000 of coverage for your goods.
Insurance is sold only in blocks of $5,000 and only up to a maximum of $50,000 per Smartbox.
Note that paintings, antiques, curios and works of art are limited to $1,000 per item and not more than a total of $5,000.
